The cardiothoracic surgical team is a multi-disciplinary one in which different specialists, working with the surgeon, are responsible for different areas of patient care and recovery. Our team includes vascular surgeons, cardiologists, pulmonologists, critical care nurses, respiratory and physical therapists and others.
The Cardiac Surgery Service utilizes a number of state-of-the art technologies and surgical techniques. These include minimally invasive procedures and off pump. In addition, beating heart surgery, which eliminates the need for a heart bypass machine, is available for select patients.Procedures commonly performed by our expert surgeons include mitral valve repair and replacement, coronary bypass grafting (CABG), and aortic surgery.
Program Highlights:
Englewood Hospital is the only hospital in NJ with a 0.00% mortality rate* for coronary bypass surgery. These results were accomplished with one of the lowest average lengths of stay in the state of NJ, another measure of the quality care achieved. Of all NJ hospitals, we perform the highest proportion of complex procedures, such as multi-valve repair, aneurysm/aortic dissection repair and endovascular thoracic aneurysm graft (TAG) repair. The experience and success of our surgical team, which has performed thousands of procedures together over many years, gives you or your loved one the best chance for a successful surgical outcome.More than 80% of cardiac surgeries are performed transfusion-free. Many other well-known institutions seek our expertise in bloodless surgery.
